Stay Active Dementia Respite

Contact us

Our Stay Active dementia respite service is back! Stay Active is for people living with dementia and gives carers respite. The service is run twice a week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Stay Active, as the name suggests, is for people living with dementia of any age who enjoy being sociable and active. Not only does the service give carers a break but it is lively and stimulating for people with a relatively early diagnosis who like to have fun in the company of others and appreciate getting out and about.

The small groups include a minibus pick-up and drop-off from their home, refreshments and lunch. Stay Active’s dementia service is based at Abbeyfield’s modern day centre at 50 Ferring Street, Ferring, near Worthing. On Tuesdays we have a group mainly from Worthing and on Wednesdays from Arun. This makes it easier for pick-up and drop-off.

You can access the service by being referring or by self-referral. A telephone call to Lynsey at Abbeyfield Ferring on 01903 896880, in the first instance, will result in a friendly home assessment and further details about the service.

You don’t need a diagnosis of dementia to access the service, in fact, you may live along and just feel an outing with like-minded people is just what you need. If you are a carer, it will give you an opportunity to rest, catch up with daily tasks and find some time for yourself, knowing that your loved one is well-cared for and in good hands. Please contact us for more details.

As the service is supported by funding from the Lottery Community Fund, the costs are £30 per session.
